Macintosh computers: Topics and Resources

Figure 1. Macintosh OS X desktop. The desktop contains icons for disks as well as other files or folders you store there. The dock (bottom) offers easy access to commonly-used applications as well as the Trash. Applications which are currently open are always marked with a black triangle in the dock. The menu bar (top) always contains the Apple menu (shown), and optionally the date and time as well as status icons and other menus. Inside the Apple menu are options to control and customize your Mac, including System Preferences (equivalent to 'control panels' on Windows PC's and older Macs).

Introductory material
